Pineapple is run by Tony Burrin who has some twenty-eight years experience in the hospitality business, initially in wine bar, restaurant and event management and then as Head of Hospitality for the British Council in London. He has been selling and developing wine accessories for the last nine years.
And why Pineapple...?
Brought back to Europe by Columbus after his second voyage to the Americas in 1493, the pineapple was used to decorate banqueting tables. As such, it became known as the symbol of hospitality, conviviality and good cheer and can often be seen carved in stone or wood above the gateposts and fireplaces of stately homes. As the sign of conviviality and good cheer it seems an ideal name for a wine accessory company.....
